Agumbe: Symphony of Shadows and Serenity Through My Lens

Updated: Mar 17

When it comes to immersing myself in the wonders of the Western Ghats of India, whether it's chasing macros or conquering hiking trails, Agumbe holds a special place in my heart. Since 2014, I've been making the pilgrimage to Agumbe every monsoon and post-monsoon, exploring both the well-known spots and the hidden gems.

From leading treks and camps at Seetanadi, Guddekeri, Onake Abbi, Jogi Gundi, Koodlu Teertha, Sirimane, Narasimha Parvatha, Kundadri to venturing into the serene forest patches of the Someshwara Wildlife Sanctuary, Agumbe and I share a unique connection.

My love for Kannada literature, particularly the works of Kuvempu and Poornachandra Tejaswi, has shaped my perspectives. As a wildlife enthusiast, I delve into the forests to understand micro-habitats, spot various reptiles and amphibians, and capture their essence through my lens. Yet, as a part of nature, I seek the spiritual ambiance of silence, accompanied by the soothing melodies of wind and rain.

These dual experiences have significantly influenced my evolution in photography, from documenting natural history to exploring the realms of fine art and creative expression.

Below, I share a glimpse of my photographic journey in Agumbe. This collection represents only a fraction of my adventures, and I plan to update this space with more images after my upcoming trips to Agumbe.

Amidst the diverse species I've encountered, the Green Vine Snake has been a subject of particular fascination. I've dedicated ample time to experimenting with different perspectives, angles, and techniques, putting my skills to the test in the field.

Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to unravel the magic of Agumbe through my lens.
